The annual visits by our Bishop are always a time of great celebration, fellowship and worship.

To Install The Rev. Alan Lipscomb As First Vicar

Under the Cannons or bylaws of the Diocese of the MidAtlantic, a church is a mission until it's average Sunday attendance reached a certain level.  Then it becomes a parish.  As a mission, ACOTV has a Vicar rather than a Rector - but the two jobs are essentially the same.

Bishop Guernsey To Visit ACOTV August 25:

Anglican Diocese of the MidAtlantic

Bishop Guernsey Visits - 2014

Bishop John Guernsey will make his annual visit to the Anglican Church of the Valley August 24 and 25.  It will be a special year because he is also installing the Rev. Alan Lipscomb as our congregation's first Vicar.

The Bishop will meet with the church Vestry and clergy Saturday morning, then join the congregation for a potluck supper Saturday evening.  He will then participate in our Adult Sunday School at 10 a.m. Sunday before the 11 a.m. service.  That service will include a special liturgy for the installation of a Vicar, and then the Bishop and new Vicar will lead the celebreation of Holy Eucharist.  Following the service there will be a luncheon and reception in the Community Room.
