Bishop John Guernsey of the Diocese of the Midatlantic received eight persons into the Anglican Church during his three-day visit to the Anglican Church of the Valley., August 19-21, 2016.
The Bishop met with the Parish Vestry Saturday morning at a local restaurant, The Parish clergy joined the Vestry for luncheon with the Bishop, then the clergy met with the Bishop early afternoon.
The congregation joined the Bishop and his wife Meg for a casual dinner Saturday night at the home of Senior Warden Dianne Burcaw. The weather was kind and without precipitation as the attendees enjoyed the fellowship.
Sunday morning Bishop Guernsey and his wife joined the church's Study Group for its ongoing study of the Anglican Homilies.
At 11, the Bishop, assisted by the Rev. David Reed, priest in charge, led a service of Laying On Of Hands in which eight were received into the Anglican Communion. Following, the Bishop celebrated Eucharist.
Following the service, the congregation gathered again for fellowship and luncheon in the community room..
The annual visits by our Bishop are always a time of great celebration, fellowship and worship.
